-- This is a complete set of the Fry Words—The Fourth Hundred Flash Cards.

-- It supports the common core standard of RF.K.3c, RF.1.3g , RF.2.3f, and RF.3.3d —Reading Foundational Skills— Read common high-frequency words by sight

-- Dr. Edward B. Fry's Instant Words (which are often referred to as the "Fry Words") are the most common words used in English ranked in order of frequency. In 1996, Dr. Fry expanded on Dolch's sight word lists and research and published a book titled "Fry 1000 Instant Words."

-- A complete list of The Fourth Hundred words is included on the second page.

-- This list is color-coded grey so that they can be distinguished from other sight word lists— Preprimer, Primer, 1st Grade Dolch, 2nd Grade Dolch, and 3rd Grade Dolch Words, Fry Words—The First Hundred, Fry Words—The Second Hundred, Fry Words - The Third Hundred

-- The cards can be printed individually for each child to have their own set or they can be printed and then laminated for multiple uses or users.

-- Easy to keep track of student data.

-- The boxes were added to these cards to help with data tracking.

--The number of boxes were chosen based on reading research. According to http://www.readingrockets.org/, “Children vary in the amount of practice that is required for fluency and automaticity in reading to occur. Some children can read a word only once to recognize it again with greater speed; others need 20 or more exposures. The average child needs between 4 through 14 exposures to automatize the recognition of a new word.”

-- Therefore this product has three complete sets of flashcards. The teacher can choose which set best fits the needs of his/her students.

-- Set 1 has 10 boxes on the front
-- Set 2 has 20 boxes on the front
-- Set 3 has 20 boxes on that can be copied on the back so that only the teacher can see the student progress

-- The boxes are to be used by the teacher, parent, assistant , or student for data tracking. The boxes can be used for targeted trails, how many correct, how many incorrect. Stickers or check marks can used. If you want to keep the cards for future students, laminate the cards and then use a wet erase or dry erase marker.
