Description

Why not spice up the common core standards with this (literally) hands-on activity? It's a perfect fit for a Friday or two or for an extension to challenge advanced learners.

Students will use critical thinking to explore area, scale, fractions, ratios, and spatial relations by tracing their hand and transforming their hand to 1:4 scale. An extension activity extends this lesson to art and mechanical drawing applications.

This lesson is recommended for 4th or 5th grade gifted and talented and 6th and 7th grade math classrooms.

This lesson is part of a semester long talent pool for GATE students called "Table-top Mini Golf."
