What educators are saying

I bought the bundle mostly for the gallery walk. It was fun for the class instead of our usual reading and answering questions. The students also enjoyed the journal
I used this in conjunction with teaching a Tale of Two Cities. It provided a good historical backdrop.

Great for in-class lecture or a flipped classroom/digital learning resource. All lectures in my store are editable, so you can make your own additions and modifications as you see fit.

    • Thermidorian Reaction & the Directory
    • Questions throughout lecture for students to stop, reflect & discuss
    • & more!

    2. FRENCH REVOLUTION PHASE 1 DIGITAL NOTEBOOK

This digital interactive notebook for World History or AP European History covers the Causes & Moderate Phase (up to 1791) of the French Revolution. Students will watch short video clips and use curated websites to explore this fascinating era in class or asynchronously. The accompanying 20 slide teacher lecture on Google Slides will help review key concepts with your class. This is likely a 2-day assignment.

    3. GUILLOTINE DAY GALLERY WALK

Explore the madness of the Reign of Terror through this Guillotine Day Gallery Walk. There are 7 stations with 3 pages of information and images, accompanied by a 2-page student worksheet. Includes optional craft for students to make their own quick and easy revolutionary cockades at the "revolutionary fashion" station! Great for World History classes!

    7 Topics include:

    1. Guillotine 101
    2. Revolutionary Fashion
    3. Execution of Louis XVI
    4. Execution of Marie Antoinette
    5. Emigres
    6. Robespierre
    7. End of the reign of Terror

    4. FRENCH REVOLUTION JOURNAL PROJECT

The French Revolution is such an exciting and tumultuous period, and this helps bring it alive for students as they create a character that journeys through the Revolution’s major events. Student-centered Project-based learning is the way to keep students engaged and make material accessible to all students!

    JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS:

    1. A Day in the Life (half sheet handout)
    2. Ball at Versailles (with video links)
    3. Estates General - Handout & Estates General debate activity.
    • Each side fills out their Cahiers and then proposes what they want. Then you vote BY ORDER & the Third Estate (majority of the class) gets overruled.
    • You or a TA can vote as the clergy
    • FUN BONUS: you can have a student stand up and proclaim how fair it is & storm out to form a new National Assembly (your own little Abbe Sieyes)

    4. Storming the Bastille (Handout included)

    5. Reign of Terror - after GUILLOTINE DAY Gallery Walk activity

    6. Thermidorian Reaction (Handout included)

    7. Looking Back on the Revolution

Differentiation: the Nobility reading handouts have more vocabulary clarification and are slightly shorter. Also, a few journals have shorter writing requirements. I like to assign those to IEP or struggling students (with a few other students mixed in so it’s not too conspicuous). It also makes sense they have shorter readings and requirements as the nobility was privileged!
