Description

This fractured fairy tale writing journal takes students through the writing process three times as they write fairy tale adaptations and their own original fairy tale. It includes graphic organizers for students to retell the original fairy tales and plan their own writing, lined pages to write their stories, and practice pages for revision skills.

Contents include:

  • Version 1: This is the most scaffolded writing journal that takes students through the process of retelling the classic story, making an adaptation plan with one major change, and writing their story scene by scene.

  • Version 2: In this version, students add a character's refrain that repeats throughout the story. In this version, students focus on the use of descriptive language and varied sentence lengths in the revision step.

  • Version 3: Students get to write their own original fairy tale with all their knowledge of fairy tale patterns and rhythms. The revision step focuses on pacing.

  • Blank assignment page so you can mix and match pages from each version to suit your students' needs.
