What educators are saying

Every Thursday is Math Craft Thursday and we were talking about partitioning shapes. I was so excited when I found this perfect craft. I also really enjoyed how I could differentiate the project for the students.
I LOVED this resource! My students were so engaged when they were making the flowers. They also looked great hanging on my wall!

Description

Fraction Flowers (Fun Spring Math Craft WITH A BONUS CENTER!!) - I have been asked SO many times to make my Fraction Flowers Math Craft a separate resource on TpT for years & years and I finally did it! This math craft is one of my FAVORITE activities from First Grade Math Unit 18: Fractions! That unit has over 3,000 5 star reviews :) :) so if you're looking for fractions materials, it has everything you need for learning about equal parts, halves, fourths, thirds, eighths, partitioning shapes, identifying and writing fractions, and SO much differentiated fun packed into the pages INCLUDING THIS! I highly recommend the entire unit instead of only this 1 part of it; however, this part IS one of my favorites and I've been asked so many times to separate it so here it is!! :)

I think these make the CUTEST Spring Bulletin Board!

If you want to see more real pictures of this craft and the bonus center I included with it, check out my Fractions in First Grade blog post! I included a lot of real pictures of ideas for teaching fractions!

If you teach K-2 (or older students learning/reviewing fractions more conceptually), definitely check it out for some fun ideas for your classroom or to use at home! All of the activities in that blog post are in First Grade Math Unit 18. You can skip to the Fraction Flowers craft and also the center if that's all you want to see. :)

This math craft makes fractions SO fun! You can easily differentiate it by which and how many flowers you give.

You can also differentiate by giving struggling students the PREMADE flowers so they don't have to sort the petals and can simply color in the fractions. This also makes the craft way quicker. I personally prefer kids getting to sort and arrange the petals themselves so I recommend trying that if you think your students can handle that! If they're not ready for that yet, you could do this in small groups, instead of as a center or whole group. It's great for any of those uses (small group, as a center, whole group), as well as independently as morning work! You could also send this as a cute activity for them to do at home!

Flowers Included:

- "Half Of"

- "Third Of"

- "Fourth Of"

- "Eighth Of"

- "Whole"

They all come in a mixed up version kids cut out and assemble, as well as a premade version to offer support. This makes these usable in pretty much any grade/age level you want to teach fractions!

Pick TWO flowers to give to your students to cut out and build their flowers! (SO much learning while doing an art project!) if you want to make it a landscape 12x18 (or similar) size construction paper.

Pick ONE flower

- This makes a super cute bulletin board to have each kid make one flower for your bulletin board garden! Perfect for bouquets for Valentine's Day and Fraction Flowers gardens for Spring! :) Each kid will get a piece of construction paper to glue their flower onto and then draw grass at the bottom if you want it to look like mine.

* BONUS *

I included a FULL COLOR version of this center as an added bonus! Use it as a fun center, small groups game, fast finisher activity, in morning tubs, partner game - lots of ways you can use them! You can also print it out to make a display inside the classroom super quickly since it's already assembled for you. It makes a really cute display if you have a smaller bulletin board that kids can look at and reference.

I hope you love all of these materials!
