Description

This mini bundle of fraction math centers for third grade provides the perfect way to practice fraction concepts, no matter whether you are engaging in distance learning or in the classroom.

You’re going to find that the games in this mini bundle are perfect for having your students practice math concepts, whether you’re teaching in person, virtually, or doing a hybrid of both.

⭐ These games are from the Third Grade Math Center Bundle.

Each common core aligned math center has:

  • a fully digital game, with step by step instructions on how to use in Google Classroom and Microsoft OneDrive.  Instructions for Canvas and Microsoft Teams is included (although students will still need to use Google)

  • an 'emailable' game with full instructions on how to make a game marker in Adobe Acrobat Reader, so kids can play on their computer without the internet.

  • a black ink copy that can be printed out and sent home.

  • a printable math center game so your kiddos can engage in hands-on learning when they are at school.

Each game, whether it is digital or paper, includes an anchor chart explaining the concept. So regardless of whether your students are working from home or in the classroom, they can read about the strategy and get hints and tips.

Please note: This product does not work in SeeSaw™.

This pack contains 7 games.

Fractions

  • Identifying fractions
  • Comparing Fractions Common Denominators (game 1)
  • Comparing Fractions Common Denominators (game 2)
  • Comparing Fractions Common Numerators (game 1)
  • Comparing Fractions Common Numerators (game 2)
  • Fractions on a Number Line
  • Equivalent Fractions (email game not available)

How does the digital game work?

Each game includes illustrated, step by step instructions and because the format of each game is similar, once students can play one game, they can play them all. Students place the game marker on the game and slide the die cover up to the monster to reveal the amount of their first ‘roll’. They move their marker that amount of spaces and record the answer to the problem they land on – just like a regular board game. Two recording sheets are included for students playing in pairs.

How does the ‘emailable’ game work?

In the pack, you’ll find a PDF ‘emailable’ game to match each google slide game. Step by step instructions are included to show students and their parents how to make a game counter (adult help will be required initially). Students will just require a coin to move – heads move 2 spaces, tails move 5. Students click in the editable field and type in their answers. A black ink game is included for parents wishing to print out the game or for teachers wanting to send it home.

*Please note, there is no email game for Equivalent Fractions.

Using the printable math center games

Inside the pack, you’ll find two different formats for the classroom math center game inside. One format is quarter-sized (to fit in photo cases) and the other is half-sized (1/2 8.5" x 11"). If your students have vision or fine motor difficulties, it is recommended to use the larger sized paper for the center.

Terms of Use

These games are for single classroom use. Teachers may send the games home to students, either in printed or digital format. The games are not to be placed on any platform that is not secure, for example, if a site doesn’t require a password to access it, it is not secure.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram.
Represent a fraction 1/𝘣 on a number line diagram by defining the interval from 0 to 1 as the whole and partitioning it into 𝘣 equal parts. Recognize that each part has size 1/𝘣 and that the endpoint of the part based at 0 locates the number 1/𝘣 on the number line.
Compare two fractions with the same numerator or the same denominator by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
