Description

A good introductory activity for NGSS.5-ESS2-1, this online, self-checking, activity starts by introducing the four spheres of Earth: geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. Students then identify which sphere can be seen in a series of photos, answer multiple choice and fill-in-the-gap questions based on the information they've been given, as well as stretch their vocabulary by identifying the meanings of other words using the same prefixes. Far more colorful and engaging than a photocopied handout!

There are 24 cards in this interactive activity hosted at Boom Learning.

About Boom Learning

To use Boom Cards™, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning℠ account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (play provides instant feedback for self-grading Boom Cards). Fast Play is always a free way for students to engage with Boom Cards decks. For additional assignment options (such as data tracking) you'll need a paid account. If you are new to Boom Learning, you may be offered a free trial. Read here for details of the current offer: http://bit.ly/BoomTrial .

This is an online, self-checking, activity. While some Boom Cards activities can be printed (from your library at Boom Learning) this card deck was not designed to be used other than online and will not work well in printed format.

How to get TPT credit to use on future purchases:

First, go to your My Purchases page. Scrolling down, you will see that beside each purchase there is a Provide Feedback button. Simply click on that button and you will be taken to a page where you can give a product rating and leave a short comment. Each time you give feedback on your purchases, TPT gives you credits, that act as money, which you use to lower the cost and/or fully pay for your future purchases.

I greatly value your feedback, as it allows me to know how to make these resources even better suited to you and your students!

NGSS5-ESS2-1
Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact. Examples could include the influence of the ocean on ecosystems, landform shape, and climate; the influence of the atmosphere on landforms and ecosystems through weather and climate; and the influence of mountain ranges on winds and clouds in the atmosphere. The geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere are each a system. Assessment is limited to the interactions of two systems at a time.
