What educators are saying

My students love the interactivity that this activity had! It did take them 2 days to complete but they had a blast doing it at the end of the fall semester before their winter break.
We had so much fun using this resource! It has multiple solutions so classes can't ruin the mystery for other hours!

Description

Oh no! Santa has been found tied up with twinkle lights and bleeding from the head in the living room of the Taylor family. Sadly, Santa died before Ms. Taylor found him. This holiday theme murder mystery requires your junior detectives to examine the evidence, complete the ME report, write up the police summary, and identify a murder from the 4 suspects: Elf Bernard, Uncle Sam, Tooth Fairy, and Easter Bunny.

Click here to get this Murder Mystery for FREE when you purchase our Murder Mayhem Trio Bundle at a 20% discount.

Using their skills critical thinking skills, deductive reasoning, and team work, the Junior Crime Detectives work in partnerships or teams to solve the murder mystery of Santa.

Everything you need for your Junior Detectives is included in this kit including 8 DIFFERENT case files with 4 DIFFERENT guilty suspects for the SAME murder scenario. Each case file has it's own set of evidence cards that apply to the same Victim, 4 suspect files, and scenario. All cases share the same time of death and facts of the case. Variance between case files is in some of the evidence and guilty suspect. Each suspect is guilty twice across the 8 case files.

This fun and quick 30 to 45 minute holiday theme mystery is great before break activities or Fun Fridays in December. How and when evidence is provided detective teams is up to the Police Captain (you the teacher).

This activity for 1 murder scenario with 8 case files that vary to keep students from copying other's work, helps if a student blurts out info that could "give it away", or to use with different classes.

Included in this murder mystery kit:

  • PowerPoint to use in class if desired.
  • Victim & Suspect Profile Sheet
  • 8 Case Files with 12 Evidence Cards
  • Case Scenario applicable to all 8 case files.
  • Crime Scene Photos (mock fake scene)
  • Case File Labels - print on either paper or Avery Labels
  • Evidence Card Organizational Labels - print on either paper or Avery Labels
  • Detective Response Worksheet & Medical Examiner Blank Report Form
  • Teacher Prep Guide
