Description

I have used this successfully in German I, but the assignment is written to apply to any language.

This is a 4 part project set up around a hypothetical radio contest. Part 1, the students design a house to enter a contest.
Part 2, the students won, but forgot to pay taxes and must write an ad to sell the house.
Part 3, the students must inquire about a new place to live
Part 4, students write a housewarming party invitation

Part 1: Students design their dream house including rooms and furniture from their vocabulary lists. There is no writing to accompany this part.

Part 2: Students must write a description of their house that would encourage someone to buy their house.

Part 3: Hang the houses and descriptions around the room/in the hallway. I like to hang several classes at once, so students get to see more of their peers' work. Students must find one that they would like to "purchase" and respond to the advertisement written by the designer.

Part 4: Having purchased a new home, students must write an invitation to a housewarming party they will be hosting.

This assignment covers furniture, homes, geographic terms, commands, requests, and likes and dislikes.
