What educators are saying

I used this as an independent project during Genius Hour and it was a hit! A great way to teach kids about money and how to run a business.

Description

I created this resource in preparation for our school's STEAM Day this past year! In this project, students work in groups of 3 or 4 to get a fictitious food truck up and running! The project requires them to find out the hourly wage for each employee, create a weekly schedule, fill out time cards for each employee, answer multiple real-world scenario math problems involving multiplying and dividing decimals, plan out and create a design for their food truck, build their truck using recyclable materials, and reflect on the project as a whole. My 5th graders LOVED doing this project at the end of the year and were begging to do Math all day long the last 3 weeks of school!

If you have any questions or see something that needs to be corrected, please let me know and I will be happy to fix it for you ASAP! I hope your students enjoy this project as much as mine did! :)

Answer keys, rubrics, and pictures of completed food trucks are included!
