Food Truck PBA (ELA & Cross-Curricular)
Description
In this high-interest PBA students will collaborate in groups to create a food truck based on the book Emmanuel's Dream by Laurie Ann Thompson.
This is an ELA focused assignment focusing on SETTING, THEME, and CHARACTER TRAITS. However students will also have an opportunity to develop researching skills and important social emotional skills. Furthermore, there is an option to included to incorporate math through "meal tickets" (decimal computation). A Food Critic extension is also provided for higher-order thinking and evaluation!
Student directions will guide students to:
- Brainstorm
- Collaborate & share ideas
- Research
- Create a menu
- Design the food truck
- Develop marketing ideas
Use cardboard, posters, or bulletin board paper for students to create their food truck. Create a "food truck festival" for students tho showcase their food truck and menus.
A single-point rubric is included for teacher evaluation.
