What educators are saying

Great resource for teaching students about the different food groups! Love the plate activity. Thank you so much!
I used this resource for an after school cooking club. This was exactly what I needed to introduce the food groups prior to cooking with the kids.

Description

Elementary students will learn about the importance of balanced nutrition with this fun food sort activity. They will learn about dairy, protein, fruits, vegetables, and grains. They will practice sorting food items from these groups onto a plate that is divided like the USDA MyPlate. It can also be used as a sorting activity (without the plate) or a pocket chart sort!

This food group sorting kit includes:

*a plate worksheet (2 versions) and a black and white page food cards (2 pages with different food items) that can be sorted onto the plates for an individual worksheet activity.

*color cards and labels for each food group - use these in a pocket chart or sort them into different lunch bags (labeled with the printable food group title)

*sorting mats for each food group - use the color cards to sort onto each specific mat
