Description
This is a science activity that allows students to create a food chain on a cut-out pyramid. On each side of the pyramid the kids draw a food chain from a different ecosystem with plants, insects, and animals. This is a great science activity to cover food chains, producers, consumers, decomposers, and environments. It is also a great visual that shows that there are less consumers than plants/producers. Can be used in an ecology, biology, environmental science, or general science setting.
There is a grading rubric to help the kids know what they will be graded on. There are also questions about the pyramid they create so you can make sure they understand principles of food pyramids. The food chain is also attached so all you have to do is print copies for the students and get out the scissors, glue and colored pencils.
