What educators are saying

I used these and made menus for my kids. They're picky eaters and will eat the same thing all day. These menus helped them choose a variety of foods.
Quality of the photos is excellent. They are quite small. Excellent selection so ideal for categorizing activities

Description

Our editable Food Cards with real pictures are here to make learning deliciously fun and effective while promoting language and communication skills.

These food cards facilitate vocabulary development, speech practice, and language comprehension. From naming different food items to describing tastes and textures, these cards encourage expressive and receptive language skills.

  • Target Vocabulary Expansion: Our food cards help expand your clients' vocabulary by introducing them to a variety of food items. From fruits and vegetables to snacks and beverages, these cards cover a wide range of common foods, enabling targeted language practice and vocabulary building.
  • Foster Articulation and Phonological Skills: Each food card is accompanied by editable text. Your clients can work on articulation, sound production, and phonological skills by naming the foods, practicing initial sounds, or forming simple sentences related to each card.
  • Develop Language Concepts and Categorization: Help your clients understand and apply essential language concepts through categorization activities. The food cards can be sorted into groups based on attributes like color, taste, or food group, reinforcing cognitive skills and fostering critical thinking.
  • Enhance Expressive and Receptive Language Skills: Engage your clients in interactive discussions and language activities using the food cards. Encourage them to describe the foods, answer questions about preferences, or engage in role-playing scenarios related to mealtime and grocery shopping.

Use the food cards for engaging activities like memory matching games or "I Spy" challenges. These games are not only enjoyable but also provide opportunities for social interaction, turn-taking, and following directions.

Encourage parents and caregivers to utilize the food cards at home for ongoing practice. Provide them with ideas for incorporating the cards into daily routines, such as naming foods during meals, creating grocery lists, or describing snacks during snack time.

Food Cards approximate size: 1 3/4 x 2 (20 cards per page)

We recommend you print these cards on heavy card stock and use thick lamination.

I have included a ZIP file with a PDF and PowerPoint version along with a Microsoft Word document. Please make sure you have one of these programs if you want to edit the text.
