What educators are saying

This is a great resource. I liked to print off a lot of the pictures since a lot of my kiddos are tested using the CELF:P-3. You can be very creative with this resource and can also work on Yes/No concepts as well as following a variety of directions.
These are great to use in language therapy for kids who have following directions goals. They are also aligned with the CELF.

Description

I can NEVER think of directions in the moment during therapy, let alone remember/know whether I am doing No Orientation, Serial Order Orientation, No Modifier, One Modifier, or Two Modifiers. And who can remember to do right/left orientation?!

This is sort of like a template for ANY and ALL kinds of directions there could be (based on the CELF-5). They are written so you can substitute ANY OBJECT, COLOR, and SIZE; that way you can use it with any manipulatives you have. But if not, I also included 9 kinds of images/objects that can be printed and laminated to use as well.

You could literally make 1000s of different kinds of directions with this.

All 15 'types' of directions assessed in the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals - 5 (CELF-5) and listed in the Following Directions Item Analysis, including:

No orientation

1-step

2-step

3-step

4-step

Serial Order / Orientation

1-step

2-step

3-step

4-step

Left / Right Orientation

1-step

2-step

4-step

No modifier

One Modifier

Two modifiers

I got tired of having to find, print, laminate, and cut out all kinds of different activities for Following Directions. I honestly couldn't remember which were 1-step or 3-step or if I was including a modifier or not.

These can be adapted to ANYTHING you have.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
Apply knowledge of language to understand how language functions in different contexts, to make effective choices for meaning or style, and to comprehend more fully when reading or listening.
