Description
This is a counting song, a fingerplay, can be used for large motor fun as a movement song, and a gardening song.
As a fingerplay:
Five little bunnies went out to play.... Hold up 5 fingers
They hopped and they jumped around all day….. Make your hand hop and jump
Then they saw some carrots* what fun…. Continue hopping
One little bunny stayed to nibble in the sun…. Fold back one finger
And the other four, went home to sleep….. Put your head to one side, and your hand under your head and close you eyes
But in the morning, when the sun rose…… Arc your arm over your head like the rising sun
Four little bunnies….. Hold up 4 fingers and continue!
Each time the bunnies hop, they eat something different from the vegetable garden. Get ideas from the children for each verse regarding what food the bunnies are going to eat.
As a large motor activity, can be done with the children pretending to be the bunnies.
The number of bunnies can be changed to match the number of the children in the class, with different numbers of bunnies staying to nibble. Or it can be done with just five bunnies with the rest of the class being the audience.
