Description

Want to help your first grade students do more independent reading? Let your students color a funny book face for every book that they read! They don't have to write the title, author or any other information.

I think reading should be fun, and sometimes our reading logs take the fun out of reading. We want to know how many books they read, but we don't need to make it too much work for our kindergarten, first grade, or second grade students. Writing is still a chore for them, so just let them color!

Each page has 40 books to color, with 8 columns of 5 books each. You can copy page 1 and 2 back-to-back to give your students room to record more than 40 books.

We've used this at our school for whole class reading challenges, and we've celebrated success with parties in the library. Students feel proud when they see their whole page colored in, and we know that all the research shows that their independent reading will help them grow their abilities!

Happy reading to you and your students!
