What educators are saying

This was a great way to introduce science! The students were engaged and excited. It was a good way to observe how groups work together too.

Description

Want your first days of school and science to start with a bang?

The First Days of Science unit gives you 5 ready to go labs that have been classroom tested to bring out lots of excitement in students. Even better...each of these labs only costs a couple of dollars each or less in easy to get materials.

The First Days of Science Unit includes the following science labs:

Coffee Creamer Ice Cream: Making ice cream in science class is not net, but making them in small coffee creamer pods is. Your coffee creamer pods will go from liquid to ice cream in just 7 minutes while students learn about the conservation of mass, freezing point depression, and why we salt roads in the winter. Even better...this ice cream lab is virtually no mess.

Candies & Cola: Take the traditional Mentos & Soda lab to a whole new science level with this lab! Great for designing experiments and graphing.

Explosive Fizz: This lab uses effervescent tabs to design experiments where students learn about testable questions, data analysis, and graphing.

Growing Snow: Is yet another lab that has students designing and manipulating to form a conclusion after some data analysis.

Gummy Bears: This lab is a hoot! Students will explore with gummy bears and water while they practice their measuring and water displacement skills. As an added hint, try adding a variable of salt water to the gummy bears and watch how tiny they get!

Candy Coating: This lab creates big surprises when they try to predict what will happen when two colors of M&Ms blead into each other when placed in water. Almost nobody guesses correctly!

We hope you enjoy your First Days of School using our First Days of School: Science Fun unit! You'll create a lot of captive students!
