What educators are saying

Such a fun way to start this year and it made procedures so much more memorable! Kids still ask when we're going to act things out again and remember that activity so vividly! Loved it!
This was such a fun way to teach our classroom procedures without me lecturing on day 1. The kids loved it and I highly recommend!

Description

Rather than read a long list of classroom rules and procedures, I play this fun game with my students on the first day of school. It completely changes the tone of our first week of school!

First I pass out cards to my students and tell them that their card either has the correct way to address a situation or the incorrect way. Then I call out the situation, and the two students who have the cards raise their hands. Both students act out their cards, and the class determines which student had the best procedure, pointing out the differences they noticed.

When I play this game with my students, the procedures are much more memorable for them, and I love that we start off the year with smiles and laughter, as some of the incorrect procedures are hilarious to watch!

***NOTE: Because these procedures are based on my own classroom expectations, you will need to edit the game cards to fit your specific needs. This file includes EDITABLE game cards so you can adjust the procedures to meet your own classroom expectations. The more specific the cards are to your classroom, the better! Make sure you are able to edit PowerPoint files prior to downloading this product.***

What's included?

  • Teacher instructions to get you started
  • 24 Editable game cards with common class procedures for students to act out
  • 8 Blank cards that you can edit with your own unique procedures

My students were very engaged in this game. The reading intervention students that I teach often have trouble learning classroom procedures, but this helped them to better understand and recall them. The principal was also impressed by this activity. –Ivana E.

My students sooo loved role-playing scenarios instead of hearing the Do's & Don't's of the classroom. It truly made our first week of school legendary! I now can refer back to those actress/actors every time we need to review a procedure! Locked in the learning! –Jennifer J.
