What educators are saying

Great resource for the first day! After students completed their emoji's, we graphed their feelings and had a discussion about the results!
Loved this to begin my grade 1/2 class and getting to know how my students felt during the first day. Easy to follow and looks awesome as a display!

Description

First Day of School Feelings-Emoji Edition

We all know we have a classroom full of students who are feeling a slew of emotions on the first day of school. Why not discuss these feelings & let your kiddos know that it’s OKAY to feel how they feel! This print and go resource includes a feelings chart, a writing prompt, and a chance for your kiddos to illustrate how they really feel about their first day. I’ve also included a decorative pencil banner that you can print up and hang up on your bulletin board! I know we teachers feel EXHAUSTED after the first day/week of school, so I’m hoping this helps in crossing off one thing off your list, and that’s your September bulletin board! You’re welcome!

Included in this resource are first day feeling prompts for grades pre-k to second grade, and feelings chart you can print out and display or project on your interactive white boards. I've even included a black & white version in case you want to copy and distribute to your entire class!

Included in this resource:

-Blank emoji "face" for students to illustrate how they felt on the first day of school.

-Several versions of the writing prompt sheet:

On the first day of school, I felt _____ because _____.

On the first day of pre-k, I felt ______ because _____.

On the first day of kindergarten, I felt ______ because _____.

On the first day of first grade, I felt ______ because _____.

On the first day of second grade, I felt ______ because _____.

*There is more writing space provided for the first & second grade version.*

-Illustration page

-A collective list of First Day of School books that discuss feelings.

-Pencil banner that reads "First Day Feelings!" for you to print out and display on your bulletin board!

-*UPDATED NOVEMBER 2021* Now including blank writing pages (4 lines and 6 lines) to assign your own writing prompt! Also, a non-first day of school theme emotion chart.
