First aid is a great life skill to have, and first aid scenarios use a practical, problem solving approach to real world situations requiring first aid actions. Sometimes you need to differentiated scenarios to meet individual learning needs. Your special needs high school students will love these easy to read and use practical scenarios to build their application of first aid skills!
What's inside the first aid worksheets resource?
The differentiated First Aid Worksheets are based on first aid scenarios and include:
responding to a life threatening emergency
- using DRABC to assess a person
- managing a cut
- managing an embedded piece of glass
- responding to an animal bite
- helping with a burn from boiling water
- dealing with dehydration and headache
- managing hay fever and asthma
- recognizing the need to call for emergency or adult help
The first aid worksheets can be quickly and easily printed onto A4 card, with a black and white version available for those without access to a color printer or copier. They can also be used for home based learning, with an Easel activity option enabled. They are perfect for a quick review of First Aid or during periods of remote learning as part of a home based learning packet.
There is a bonus 15 question digital quiz to help students focus on identifying an emergency.
Each First Aid worksheet contains a scenario with a short description of an incident where First Aid is required. There are seven scenarios, and each scenario contains two different text versions to allow for differentiation within the class or group. Version A contains simpler language, more straight forward scenarios and more guided prompts and questions. Version B has more complex language, challenging First Aid scenarios and more open ended questions and prompts to encourage higher order thinking and problem solving.
- Print the scenarios onto card or paper and share with small groups. Ask each group to read and discuss the scenario then think about the best solutions for the situation. Bring the class back together to review the First Aid principles used in each card to reinforce key learning and identify any issues or problems.
