What educators are saying

This dance project was a hit! It sparked creativity and allowed my students to express themselves freely. They enjoyed the hands-on experience and were proud of their unique creations. Highly recommend for fostering artistic growth in the classroom!

Description

Teaching dance to intermediate students can be tricky, teaching it online is trickier. Here is a simple yet creative way to approach dance when no one wants their face on camera.

Finger Dancing is using your fingers to act as legs/feet dancing along to popular songs. Add little shoes and props to make it fun!

This PDF is an outline for a Dance Project "Finger Dancing" that students will then video tape in whatever program you are used to using (Flipgrid is what we used). Students brainstorm, plan and then execute a dance with their fingers to a quick song, trying to display the elements of dance.

This project worked well because the entry talent point was low, meaning that anyone could do this, you don't have to be a dancer or athletic. Students preferred not having their face on camera and this was the perfect excuse not to.

Included is a rubric that you can follow or add on to as well as many YouTube video links with examples.

Perfect for Grade 5-8

Can also be used as a Visual Art mark for designing dance sets and props.
