What educators are saying

This resource was very helpful and allowed me to address this CSO in a fun and engaging way with very little prep-work
I used this with scholars as a way to practice finding area and perimeter. This was used as extra practice after being taught. It was very easy to print and have set up to use.

Description

Help students get the big picture of how to decompose complex shapes with these work mats! Simply print and go!

When working with area and perimeter it's important that students know how to break down a complex shape into squares, rectangles, right triangles to find the area. These mats also make it so students can easily recognize how to find the perimeter of a shape that might not have side with a labelled measurement. This product includes:

20 Area and Perimeter Grid Task Mats
Students can easily calculate and count the area and perimeter of each composite shape because they are on grids, shaded on grids, or have grid lines in the composite shape. Students find the area and perimeter of each shape. Recording sheet and answer key are included.

20 Area and Perimeter Task Mats
Composite shapes are printed with measurements and students solve for the area and perimeter. Plenty of space for students to decompose each composite figure and solve for the answers. All numbers are whole (no decimals or fractions).

20 Blank Area and Perimeter Task Mats
Want students to practice decomposing shapes? There are 20 blank task mats with shapes identical to the area and perimeter task mats. Print and add your own dimensions for students to solve for if you need extra practice.

This is exactly what you need for a whole group activity or instruction, partner work, small groups, resource, or review! If you want these more in a task card size simply print 4 to a page! Just print and laminate (or place in page protectors) so students can decompose the shapes with a visa-vis or expo markers. It's also a perfect activity to get your students up, moving, and doing math together.
