Description

This is an assignment to teach students how to write checks and balance a checkbook. It is an interactive Excel Spreadsheet and self scores if the student completes it on the computer.

There are two parts to the assignment. The first part has the students correctly fill out 8 checks based on prompts given to them. The 2nd part uses those 8 checks and other non-check transactions to teach them how to fill out and balance a check register.

Also included is a .pdf printable version of the assignment that can be completed without a computer if all of your students do not have computer and/or Excel access. Also great for the student who was absent the day you did this assignment.

Students are given clear instructions and the spreadsheet cells change color as they complete the activity correctly. They are also given points as they complete each element correctly (download the preview version to see how this works).

When complete, students can print entire activity to handin or they may just print the score page as the activity is completely self scoring.
