What educators are saying

I used this as a review from grade 8 to refresh their memories. I found the exercises helpful in expanding that knowledge. Students enjoyed it.
I use this resource in bits and pieces to practice figurative language. We complete about a page a week as a time filler, perfect practice and reminder.

Description

This is a month-long booklet containing Figures of Speech/ Figures of Speech & Literary Devices. It works as an introduction, reinforcement, and review. The booklet includes analogy, simile, metaphor, hyperbole, understatement, personification, pun, idiom, oxymoron, irony, onomatopoeia, euphemism, allusion, allegory, cliche, generalization, synedoche, metonymy, alliteration, assonance, consonance, positive/negative connotation... Each page defines the figure of speech/literary device and lists examples. Then, students either write their own example, illustrate, finish the example or explain the meaning.

Check out the Smart Notebook I have created on Figurative Language/ Figures of Speech/ Literary Devices. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Figurative-Language-Figures-of-Speech-Literary-Devices-Smart-Notebook-1083599 It includes links to music videos and interactive games, as well as these pages scanned within the Notebook.
