Description

DIGITAL FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE ESCAPE ROOM ACTIVITY. Your students will love this fun, interactive figurative language activity where they enter six different rooms to demonstrate their mastery of similes, metaphors, personification, idioms, and alliteration. Included in the different rooms include a drag and drop definitions, meanings of idioms, and identifying and sorting figurative language in classic books and quotes.

How this Escape Room Works:

- In your pdf download is a link to the Escape Room will direct you to a Google Form or Google Sheets.

- The Google Form/Sheets is where each student/or group will input their answers from the escape room.

- The Google Form has 6 links to 6 separate Google Slides (or Escape Rooms) and 1 link to Google Sheets.

- Please make sure each student/group has their own copy for the Escape Room so that other students/groups won't see each other's answers.

- Please ensure before purchased that your students can access Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

This Escape Room:

Room 1 - Students will drag and drop definitions with their terms (simile, metaphor, personification, and alliteration.)

Room 2 - Students will read 9 sentences that include an idiom. They will drag and drop the meaning of each idiom on the correct sentence.

Room 3 - Students will read 4 quotes (Romeo and Juliet, Emily Dickinson, The Outsiders, and Beowolf) and determine if they are an example of a metaphor, simile, personification, or alliteration. Students will drag and drop the correct figurative language beside each quote.

Room 4 - Students will read 10 sentences, then sort each sentence into the correct category of an alliteration or personification.

Room 5 - Students will read 5 quotes and determine the type of figurative language in each quote. Quotes are from Albert Einstein, Virginia Woolf, Flannery O'Connor, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Carl Sandburg.

Room 6 - Twelve examples of figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification, and alliteration). Students will use a drop-down menu to determine each one. Only three questions will display at first, once students answer those three correctly, the next three will then show on the screen. Once students have answered all 12 questions correctly, they will see a word unscramble. This is their final code.

Included in your purchase:

- Teacher directions to navigate Google Classroom.

- Teacher answer keys to allow you to give "hints" for students needed a little extra help.
