What educators are saying

We used the fiction vs nonfiction sentences and it was great to have a way to show students the difference this way instead of just focuses on elements of those types of text!
The kids loved the sort. It made the difference between fiction and nonfiction very clear, especially at the beginning of the year.

Description

Your students will have a blast identifying the difference between fiction and nonfiction with this set of four hands-on sort activities. These are great for use during whole group instruction, small groups, and reading centers.

Fiction vs Non-Fiction Activities Included:

Pocket Chart Sorting Activity – Students read the sentences and sort the cards under the heading Fiction or Non-Fiction. Students can also sort on a table underneath the headers.

Write/Read the Room – Students read the sentences you have posted around the room and look at the pictures on each card. They decide whether the idea is fiction or non-fiction and select the correct sheet to record their answers.
