Description

What is it?

This is a great responsive classroom routine for morning or afternoon meetings with the whole class or as a partner share. Use it to see how everyone is feeling and why. Additionally, use this routine to check in with students behaving strangely or out of character. It's an excellent way to model how you reflect on your feelings and express them openly and creates connections between students by fostering empathy through sharing.

Why this Resource?

  • A quick way to gauge students to open up deeper conversations about home life, habits and relationships
  • Easy and open ended - Great for a variety of abilities, ESL / ELL students
  • Once familiar with the routine, it can also be used to check how students 'feel' about a new topic, concept or strategy (1-don't understand - 10 totally understand)
  • Reading response and student mat is differentiated

What is included?

  • 1 Classroom Poster
  • 2 Interactive Student Mats (for laminating or paper) (differentiated)
  • Mini Student Response Cards (Exit Tickets)
  • 2 Short Writing Responses (differentiated)

Please let me know below if you have any students who do not have 10 fingers. I'd be more than happy to make a unique poster and student mat for that student and email it to you :)
