Description

You've taught the differences between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. You look out and your students have blank faces! Does this sound familiar? It's time to see if they can identify key quotes from both sides. It's time for a Federalist Anti-Federalist Quote Throw Down!

This lesson assumes you have already taught the differences between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists.

  • In this lesson, each student will hold a Federalist card and an anti-Federalist card. The teacher (or appointed student) reads a Federalist or Anti-Federalist quote. After the teacher says "go" - each student "throws down" the card they think said the quote. There are 16 quotes in this lesson. After "throwing down" - students can "tweet" their best argument in support or opposition to the ratification of the Constitution.

Included in this purchase:

  • Detailed teacher instructions
  • 16 quotes
  • Federalist and Anti-Federalist cards - 2 per page to save you paper

✅✅✅✅✅ Taylor W. says, "I used this as a formative assessment, and it worked very well. It allowed me to gauge how well the students understood the lesson I taught on the Federalist and Anti-Federalist, as well as gave the students an opportunity to apply what they learned.

✅✅✅✅✅ Brisa C. says, "I split my class into two large groups and had a "throw down showdown" between the two teams. They loved it! This is a great way to review these two groups.

✅✅✅✅✅ Kathleen C. says, "My 6,7 class is a fun bunch, and so anything that involves them slapping things down makes them beyond excited. My students loved facing off against one another in class to see who knew more about Federalist and Anti-Federalist ideas. It was also a great way for me to check and see if students were grasping the big ideas of what each group believed."
