This is a fantastic way to engage students in more material than just the standards or reading you scheduled for the day. Students get their minds warmed up to thinking, practice writing, and learn something "extra" for their day in history! It also sparks great conversations. Prompts range from all aspects of society, art, history, sports, and more important events! Starting in January with this series is a great way to set the course for the second half of the school year. You can even have students research and report on more details about events they find intriguing.

Multiple question prompts are given for each event, so it can work on many levels of depth and catch students interested in different portions of each prompt. Lines are given for writing space and easy printer to student writing or projecting to the room like I do.
