Description

This summative project is designed for a family studies course at the high school level, but may easily be adapted to other curricular subject areas (such as English, Psychology, etc.). Students have plenty of writing options to choose from! An idea web AND rubric is included for your convenience!

In this package you will find the following subsections to help guide your students through the research/essay writing process:

· TOPIC SUGGESTIONS

· GUIDELINES

  • ORGANIZATION

· WEB Handout

  • SAMPLE TITLE PAGE
  • WRITING
  • REFERENCES
  • TIPS
  • DRAFT PROCESS

· RUBRIC

NOTE:

For those students/classes where sensitivity to some issues may present as problematic or concerning, this document is fully editable. That said, you may adapt the current criteria or options available to students to best suit the needs of your class.

I also require my students to hand in a draft copy so that I can formatively assess their progress and also intervene pro-actively should I observe that students are off-track or having difficulty. This step can be omitted however.

Additionally, I am a huge stickler when it comes to referencing ideas/others’ sources correctly. I always provide students with a ton of example references and outline APA requirements in much greater detail.

Happy TEACHING!
