What educators are saying

This resource was amazing. We used it for our first Family Literacy night and our parents and students had a blast! The parents were so engaged and teachers were having a great time working with students and parents.
This was an amazing resrouce to use during our Title 1 Family Engagment night. I used 3 different grade level Escape Rooms to have various skills for various families. We got nothing but good feed back from the Engagement Night. Parents, Families and students loved it.

    Description

Did you get tasked with coordinating family reading night? Don't worry, I've got your back. This exciting escape game has everything you need in one download.

When families enter the school, they’ll read a scenario explaining why they are “locked” in the school. They’ll be given a recording sheet according to the child’s grade level. The recording sheets are editable so you can enter your own text to let the families know where to go for each challenge.

The challenges are similar to what you would have at a center or small group. Most of the challenges just need to be printed, laminated and cut. The completed challenges will lead them to a final code word that will free them from the school!

Fast escapers can do a challenge for another grade level if time allows. We didn’t time the students for the challenge, but it was 5 pm to 7 pm, so at 6:50, the principal announced that there were only 10 minutes left to escape. I’ve included an editable flyer to send home with students.

This can be done with or without boxes and locks. There are directions for doing it either way. I’ve included tips on how to make DIY lock boxes and a link to 4-letter word locks on Amazon.

    Optional items needed:

    • five 4 letter word locks
    • lockable box

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My school used this for a family literacy night. It was probably the best purchase I've ever made on TPT. My school has a tremendous amount of children that aren't on grade level but with a little support, all of the kids were successful! The suggestion about color coding was brilliant. That's exactly what we did. We also created a picture board that said "I escaped" that students were able to take a picture with. We had an absolutely wonderful night and I can't thank the creator enough for sharing their hard work. Next year we will purchase the Rainforest escape room. Run don't walk to purchase this truly fun activity!
