What educators are saying

I used this on Halloween for both my 6th and 7th grade gifted classes. They loved it! They were particularly interested in how I destroyed the candy corn. They really got into it and were extremely specific to the point of hilarity. Great resource! Will definitely use again next year.
This was a perfect lesson to tie in with our study of the Forensics/Crime Unit we have been working on. Thank you for a cool resource.

Description

An exciting Halloween themed mini-inquiry science lab! Teach and reinforce observation and inference skills in this fun easy to prep activity. Your students will love solving the mystery of the candy corn catastrophe! Perfect for forensic units, inquiry units, and the fall season.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting mini-inquiry lab that uses candy corn! In this inquiry lab activity students read a short newspaper article about a candy corn criminal who is sneaking around town destroying candy corn. Next, students get to put their observation and inference skills to work to help the investigative team make observations and inferences about how six batches candy corn were destroyed. This activity is fun to do for a Halloween party.

This lab is easy to modify to fit the level of your students. It is readily adaptable for students who need more support and equally easy to modify for students who are ready for increased challenge.
