Fairy Tale Court: Teaching ELA Standards Through the Courtroom
What educators are saying
Description
Looking for an engaging lesson that crosses several areas of your ELA standards? Looking for a way to teach point of view, character perspectives, and character traits? What if you could do this through fairy tales? That was how my unit was formed.
Fairy tales are so much fun to teach. I decided to teach point of view, character perspectives, and character traits through the courtroom. We read the original versions of fairy tales as well as the fractured fairy tale versions. My students then chose a fairy tale character and had to provide text evidence to use in "the courtroom".
This packet features 20 fairy tale characters for your students to choose from. More than 20 students? You need some lawyers and police officers as well! Fairy tales included are Rapunzel, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood.
Also included in this packet is a book list, a teacher planning sheet to know which students are representing which characters, a court preparation document with questions for your students, a jury point of view sheet, guilty/not guilty cards, and a courtroom background.
I hope your students have as much fun as mine did. Please ask if you have any questions before purchasing.
