Description
Factoring (when a is not 1) Scavenger Hunt:
The objective of this activity is for students to solidify their knowledge of factoring trinomials (when a is not 1) in a way that is engaging and requires student discourse. *Answer key included*
Directions:
Print each of the following pages on colored paper and hang around the room (my students also loved it when I placed some of pages in the hallway). This will give you 12 stations (12 problems). Give each student the Scavenger Hunt Worksheet. In partners, the students will first pick a station to begin with (they can begin anywhere). They must factor the expression from that station and write their solution on their worksheet. The students will then use that answer to determine which station to head to next depending on the figure the answer corresponds to. Once they identify the figure on their worksheet, they will head to that station (the figure is on the upper left-hand corner of each station).
