Description

This document is a FULL description to a hybrid grading policy. The grading policy is a hybrid between standards-based grading, and the standard system. Students must show proficiency, and they get multiple attempts to show proficiency, but they are also hurt by not mastering the material in a timely manner. This combination connects standards based grading with accountability. Students are given three attempts to show proficiency of the contents in class, and a fourth attempt outside of class on their own time to prove proficiency. This system can be done effectively on JMC, but has not been used on any other LMS. I'm sure there is ways to adapt to other LMSs, but that would be for you to look at. The grading scale is a 4 point scale, and that has worked next to flawlessly in the first year of implementing.
