Description
Number lines are very abstract, and the idea of benchmark fractions on a number line added to that is even more so! This essential skill is important for students as they learn about parts of a whole, but in addition when they begin to measure.
In this 3 player game, the Control Tower and Commander work together to sink the Spy ships. The Spy marks the ships and hands their number line to the Control Tower. The Control Tower uses this intelligence to tell the Commander the "coordinates" of the location of the Spy ships. After all three players rotate roles, the Spy with the highest number of ships not sunk to the bottom of the ocean is the winner!
Easy to teach, fun to learn, and super addicting, my students would beg to play. This game allows them to read and locate benchmark fractions on a number line.
Differentiation is a breeze with "challenge mode" as well!
