Description
This game is PERFECT no prep game for high school or middle school drama class, or any class where you need a quick icebreaker.
It also works great if you need to leave sub plans.
This is a really fun game that my drama classes play for our SPONTANEOUS part of our improv unit...it's quick, doesn't require a lot of set-up (just one desk/table) and students will beg you to play it again and again. It's as addicting as cheese itself!
This 10-slide Powerpoint goes through each step of the game to make it easier for you and your students to understand.
It also gives tips at the end about improv, and things like "support each other", leaders and followers, staying in character etc.
This stuff is key for the entire unit - and what they're evaluated on!
This is a really purposeful game because it focuses on:
✤entering and exiting with a purpose (exiting is hard for them to learn so practice is key)
✤it also goes AGAINST the rule of improv "acceptance - always say YES" and challenges them in a neat way...great lessons and discussions come out of this!
You could easily mark this as part of an evaluation/assessment - or just use it for fun.
It's a great game!!
NOTE - it asks for twelve student improvers to play (you can use more/less) at a time which is great because the rest of the students get to watch and observe - which is so helpful.
It can also lead to great mini critiques at the end of the game about what they learned and could do better.
Then you just switch it up for the next round, with the observers becoming the players and vice versa.
ALSO - you the ideas for this game are endless - sometimes I make it about something other than a cheese factory...the pharmacy, the dollar store, the pizza place ETC.
It's so flexible and easy.
(I've uploaded it as a PDF and PPT so you can access it easier no matter what program you have access to! Just project it and GO!)
