FEBRUARY Reading Comprehension with WH Questions IEP GOAL REVIEW for Autism

Are your students with autism working towards a reading comprehension IEP goal for 1st through 2nd grade reading level? This January theme reading comprehension IEP Goal Review worksheet printable packet helps early readers to comprehend sentences which contain 1st - 3rd grade sight words, vocabulary, and easy to read nouns. Key ideas and details about each passage are referenced using “wh” questions. The month of February is emphasized in this IEP Goal Review packet, to reinforce months of the year and dates. The passages may reference February weather, holidays, events, and activities.

Each review packet contains “uncluttered” (less cutesy, distraction free) printables that are aligned with academic or social-emotional state standards. The skill sets are, in most instances, adapted to fit the learning needs of special education students. The Review Packets for IEP Goals are designed to encourage independent work practice for those who can, and additional support for those students who may need it. WHAT AGE OR GRADE LEVEL WOULD YOU SUGGEST THIS WORKSHEET PACKET FOR?

Although this IEP goal review packet is aligned with early/mid elementary (1-3) skills, it may support any learner who is currently developing reading skills accessing reading resources on this grade level. As we know, our children all learn at their own pace and this resource is adaptable for all students learning to read by using previously taught words, nouns, and visuals (picture).

HOW WILL THIS IEP GOAL REVIEW PACKET HELP MY STUDENT/CHILD?

This packet provides extra practice to supplement classroom lessons, therapy session resource, winter review to prevent reading skills regression, independent work to support inclusion, reading resource, or early intervention. Each page contains an area to track the child’s progress to monitor for skill progression.

DOES THE IEP GOAL REVIEW PACKET COME WITH IEP GOALS?

YES! Here is a suggested IEP goal which aligns with this IEP Goal Review packet:

· Given a picture and grade level reading passage (1st-2nd grade), STUDENT will independently/with prompts read the passage to answer four written “wh” questions related to the topic, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
