Expository Writing Unit with Best Selling Color Coded Organizer **REVISED**

Use this color coded Expository Essay Graphic Organizer to help students organize the perfect 5 paragraph essay. Each detail is color coded to show students how the detail paragraphs are summarized in the opening and closing. Also, the openers, topic sentences and closers are the same color to show how these sentences are related. With this graphic organizers, students are able to see a pattern that can easily be replicated to create the perfectly organized essay.

I print each child their own copy to keep in their writing folder. This way they can refer to them whenever they are writing an essay. You can also shrink down the PDF to make mini notecards, laminate them and leave them at a center or hand them out before a writing prompt. Or, upload this image to a website that prints posters and create a classroom poster.
