    Description

Five Bundles in one - covering the first half of the 8th Grade Expressions and Exponents Standards

Each station contains all the resources you need to create three learning stations for the standard

    • 8.EE.A.1 - Powers of Exponents
    • 8.EE.A.1 - Negative and Zero Exponents
    • 8.EE.A.1 - Multiply, Divide Exponents, and Power of a Power
    • 8.EE.A.2 - Square and Cube Roots
    • 8.EE.A.3 - Scientific Notation
    • 8.EE.A.4 - Operations on Numbers in Scientific Notation

Designed to help you with differentiation, you can put your students in the station they need to master, and then progress them on to the next station when they do.

These learning stations are designed to provide students with sufficient practice using a variety of different activities and worksheets. Enough resources are included to have students repeat each station three times without having to reuse any of the materials.

    HOW TO USE

Each skills-based learning station is designed for your students to master one skill through quality instruction (reteach) and lots of practice with immediate feedback.

These stations can be used for remediation when working on more complex skills in the upper grades, but the student hasn't grasped this concept - which is preventing him/her from doing the grade-level work - OR as part of regular instruction and practice.

These stations come with enough resources to run three identical stations for each skill without having to give students the exact same worksheets. This way you can differentiate OR allow students to repeat the station if they did not master the content the first time.

The tutorials can be given through video links or reteach worksheets, thus no need for constant direct instruction so the teacher is free to support all students in the room (not confined to a small group).

This resource allows you to retain the student on the skill while other students work on different skills since it can be run entirely by the student with the tracking sheet. Allows you to do vertical alignment, as students progress through the skills - or intensive remediation so that student(s) can get caught up to grade-level work.

Resources are organized and come with student tracking papers so students can keep track of where they are in their progress and can record their work for teacher monitoring. Links provided for online practice and tutorial videos. All answer sheets are included so students can receive immediate feedback as they progress.

EACH of the 5 Resource Pack includes:

    • 3 Reteach Worksheets
      • These worksheets are designed to teach the student the skill. Critical thinking skills and guided practice are utilized within each worksheet.

    • 3 Practice Worksheets
      • Each worksheet is front and back, designed to reinforce the skill by offering lots of practice.

    • 4 Maze Worksheets (Extension Activity)
      • A fun way to practice the skill while still getting immediate feedback. Each worksheet guides students through a maze by correctly answering the skill.

    • 3 Matching Activity Worksheets (Cut and Paste)
      • Students cut out solutions and paste them on the worksheet next to the corresponding question. A great way to have fun while practicing the skill and getting immediate feedback.

    • 3 Color by Numbers Worksheets (Extension Activity)
      • A fun way to practice the skill while still getting immediate feedback. Each worksheet comes as a blank grid, as students correctly solve questions they know what color to fill in each square to reveal the mystery picture.

    • 3 Student Tracking Forms
      • These are designed to help the student know which activity to do next as they progress through the activities to obtain mastery. One is filled out with online links, and one utilizes only the resources in this packet in case you do not have access to technology in the classroom. You can see it in the Preview video

    • Pennants to Celebrate Student Success
      • One is in color, the other is black and white so that students can fill out. View it in the preview video

    • A document with 10 links to online tutorial videos
      • These are links to tutorial videos that you can send the student to for help with their reteach, or use in the classroom as reinforcement

    • 3 Quizzes
      • Short, 8 question quizzes to measure whether or not your student has mastered the skill and is ready to be progressed. If they have not, they can move on to the next set of activities on the skill (provided).

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 3² × (3⁻⁵) = (3⁻³) = 1/3³ = 1/27.
Use square root and cube root symbols to represent solutions to equations of the form 𝘹² = 𝘱 and 𝘹³ = 𝘱, where 𝘱 is a positive rational number. Evaluate square roots of small perfect squares and cube roots of small perfect cubes. Know that √2 is irrational.
Use numbers expressed in the form of a single digit times an integer power of 10 to estimate very large or very small quantities, and to express how many times as much one is than the other. For example, estimate the population of the United States as 3 × 10⁸ and the population of the world as 7 × 10⁹, and determine that the world population is more than 20 times larger.
Perform operations with numbers expressed in scientific notation, including problems where both decimal and scientific notation are used. Use scientific notation and choose units of appropriate size for measurements of very large or very small quantities (e.g., use millimeters per year for seafloor spreading). Interpret scientific notation that has been generated by technology.
