The neurodiverse affirming movement is a human rights movement led by autistic adults. It reframes autism as a difference and not a disorder. People exist, communicate, experience, play, think, and learn in different ways and these can be embraced and celebrated. This starts with listening to autistic voices and their lived experiences and learning about neurodiversity. Supporting neurodivergent children in the classroom starts with making changes to the people and the environment around the child and not to the individual themselves. This resource provides many affirming supports, modifications, and accommodations that can be introduced into the classroom.
ND affirming because this information has been informed directly by the voices of autistic people.
