Description

A great addition to your planet or Mars Rover study. Student teams will review the planets in our solar system while they listen to The Planets, a suite composed by Gustav Holst which will guide them to look at the planets in a new way. Afterward, they will research two planets or a burning “I Wonder” question. Teams will present findings with an infographic using canva.com, a free online resource for fliers, infographics, Instagram posts, newspapers, and so much more!

This bundle includes the following:

  • PowerPoint slideshow to introduce teams to the planets in our solar system

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor. Sketch angles of specified measure.
Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Understand a fraction 1/𝘣 as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into 𝘣 equal parts; understand a fraction 𝘢/𝑏 as the quantity formed by 𝘢 parts of size 1/𝘣.
