Designed for: reading comprehension, close reading, compare / contrast, descriptive writing, art criticism, art history, geography.

This virtual field trip / webquest works with a student worksheet, Google maps, and Google Arts & Culture. The file provides you with:

-2 page reading passage covering van Gogh's life and artistic periods. Approximately 20 links to van Gogh's work are embedded into the passage. Links direct readers to a specific work in Google Arts & Culture. LEXILE of the passage is 950.

- Comprehension / Art analysis questions: 4 open response questions ask students to analyze a piece of art referenced in the passage.

- Compare Vincent's artwork with the same scene in Google Street View. 7 sets of side-by-side links ask students to compare and contrast artwork from the 1880s with the modern - day scene.
