Description

Support your students' attention and focus executive functioning skills with this digital, no prep, interactive lesson and activities that include two teaching videos, strategies, tools, and apps to use to help learn how to pay better attention. This digital mini-lesson and activity is perfect for high school or middle school students that need explicit instruction on attention skills and includes explanations on how attention works, with a linked video activity and a check for understanding. The lesson uses a filter to compare the brain to intaking information as well as practice scenarios and the ability to apply the skill to their own life. Whether you teach general education, special education, are a speech language pathologist or other support professional this resource is what your students need! Works for in person or online learning! Can be done digitally or on paper.

The following is lesson is part of my executive functioning skills lesson series.

What are executive functioning skills?

Executive functioning skills are the skills you need to be a successful person. These skills involve: planning, prioritizing, time management, working memory, self-control, metacognition, attention, task initiation, and perseverance.

Students who struggle in school often have weak executive functioning skills. In order to be successful in school and in life, students who struggle need to be taught these skills explicitly. I have created an entire course and curriculum at my school based on this premise, and have students to this day come back and tell me that the “real world skills” they learned in my class, help them as adults. (Over 90% graduation rate for students who take my class)
