What educators are saying

My students thought this was a good lesson to allow them to get out of their seats! It let them work at their own pace. I did not use the graffiti boxes aspect to allow for time, but the students used a block period to finish all the stations and the current events research. Great assignment!
My students really enjoyed this activity. I enjoyed watching my students put what we learned into practice by identifying the different roles of the president.

Description

In this Executive Branch activity your students will participate in a FUN Gallery Walk to examine the many jobs that the president of the U.S. performs while completing his/her job. What are the jobs or roles of a U.S. President?

The roles/ jobs of a president covered are: Commander in Chief, Chief Diplomat, Chief of State, Chief of Party, Chief Citizen, Chief Executive, Chief Legislator, and Chief Administrator.

A Gallery Walk is an activity in which your students will examine museum-like exhibits that you place around the classroom in order to complete their assignment. It is a fun way to present the information and it gets your class up and moving in an organized way- a fun break from lecture!

Specifically your students will:

1) Use their class textbook/internet to briefly identify the 8 major roles/job of a president.

2) Walk around the classroom to examine museum "exhibits" (pictures, article excerpts, quotes etc.) with a partner/small group. (all materials provided)

3) Discuss the provided "exhibit" discussion questions with their group and record a response on the graphic organizer provided.

4) Lastly students will use the information provided to identify which presidential role is being illustrated at each exhibit they visit.

5) Students will complete an Exit Card activity to apply what they have learned about the jobs of a president using a current event.

All Museum Exhibits and corresponding student sheets and guided questions are included in this product! **A GOOGLE and Traditional version is included!
