What educators are saying

I thought that this resource was great. There were some parts of it that I had trouble getting to mesh, but I am quite sure it was user error. Thank you for such a thorough packet.
This has been helpful in incorporating digital citizenship within my lesson plans. It has given me more ideas on how to incorporate technology while trying to reinforce lessons.

Description

Teach your upper elementary students how to evaluate and rate websites based on the 5 W's criteria: who, what, where, when and why. Perfect for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

What is included:

  • 13 slide PowerPoint introduction/lesson on evaluating websites
  • Google slides version of the PowerPoint
  • 3 worksheets for students to use to evaluate websites
  • 7 posters about the 5 W's
  • Bookmarks to hand out with the 5 W's rule on them

The PowerPoint introduction teaches students the basics of website evaluation and why it's important. There is a slide with vocabulary words and one slide for each of the rules. The PowerPoint can not be edited.

I also included a list of hoax websites that you can use with students to illustrate the importance of website evaluation. There are links to 2 videos that I have used in the past that also review the topic.

The worksheets can be used as a review or assessment to check the student's understanding of the concepts.
