What is more, in the times of prevalent testing and on-demand writing, knowing how to quickly and effectively start an essay is a critical skill. Unfortunately, many students struggle with it. Too many times I witnessed kids fall apart during a state writing test. They wasted precious time on wondering how to respond to a prompt and how to start their essay. Even worse, some students stared blankly at the computer screen, then they fell into despair saying “I do not know what I am supposed to write about!”
