Description
This escape room / breakout box is intend to be used to help students review before state assessments - STAAR, PARCC, FSA.
This escape room contains 5 different tasks.
Task 1 – Fiction – Students will read a short passage. Then they will answer the multiple choice questions. (pretty straight forward). Then they will record their answers on their answer sheet to reveal a secret word.
Task 2 – Testing Vocabulary – Students read the definitions on the cards. They will use the word bank to help them with the correct answers. Words that are used are: speaker, imagery, conflict, stanza, poet, contrast, resolution, claim, main idea, organization pattern, compare, chronological order, description. Once students fill in all the words, they will use the gray shaded boxes (in order) to come up with their secret code.
Task 3 – Nonfiction – Students should read the short nonfiction article. Then according to the article, they should sort the cards by asking if the card is true or false. Students record their true answers on their answer sheet in greatest to least order.
Task 4 – Puzzle Word Meaning – Students start by putting together a puzzle. They then read the paragraphs and use the context to help them determine the meaning of unknown words. They can use a dictionary as necessary. They write down their answers on their answer sheet.
Task 5 – Final Secret Message – Students will figure out that the number code goes in order. 1 – 26. They then use the code to interpret the final message.
You do not need any technology or lock boxes for this activity. You just need the ability to print.
