Description

Get ready to dive into an exciting escape-room style adventure with this break-out game designed to review narrative elements in Irving's short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with secondary students! Your students will love the exciting, modern game-like format. You will love that your students are actually enjoying reviewing the elements of fiction and that there are plenty of tools included to help you set it up with ease. Your admin will love to see that you're engaging all learners with higher order critical thinking and problem solving.

Student Experience: In this escape game with a flexible three-ways-to-play format, students must work to solve the clues in order to save Sleepy Hollow before the Headless Horseman strikes again! Students will review plot, irony, symbolism, read a paired info text, and figurative language. From the most reluctant learner to the most advanced, all of your students will be 100% engaged in solving the clues in this interactive lock box game for reviewing fiction. My students were bubbling with excitement and energy the entire period! Are you ready to UNLOCK THE FUN?!?!

Classroom success stories from other teachers who have tried this resource:

♥ "A really awesome and engaging activity. My kids loved it so much now they are asking for escape room activities ALL the time. Thanks for the inspiration and for the excitement in my classroom!"

♥ "I used this with my 7th grade language arts classes. I opted to challenge my two honors classes by not telling them which clue went with which lock, and they found it very challenging. I gave a little more direction for my other class, and once students got the hang of it, they were off! They were all super engaged and told me that they LOVED this activity. I highly recommend this product."

♥ "Thank you so much for this! It was a really fun way to get the students interested in Halloween AND literacy."
